Key Responsibilities 

• Create and prepare fresh, balanced, and nutritious meals and snacks tailored specifically for early years development. 

• Strictly manage allergen protocols and cater to specific dietary, medical, or cultural requirements for individual children. 

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, ensuring full compliance with food safety (HACCP), COSHH, and health and safety regulations. 

• Manage stock control, minimize food waste, and oversee the kitchen budget while coordinating with nursery management. 

• Ensure all meals are served at the correct temperature and consistency, providing a positive mealtime experience for the children. 

Nursery Chef in Kent Job Requirements 

• Proven experience as a Chef within a nursery, primary school, or similar childcare environment. 

• Relevant culinary qualifications (City & Guilds 706-1 & 2, NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery). 

• A valid Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate with a strong understanding of HACCP principles. 

• An Enhanced DBS check is essential (First Call Employment can assist with your criminal records check). 

• A commitment to the safeguarding of children and a willingness to undergo specific safeguarding training. 

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced nursery kitchen.
