Nursery Chef Key Responsibilities in South London 

As a Nursery Chef, you play a vital role in a child’s development by providing the nutrition they need to learn and grow. 

• Plan and prepare nutritious, balanced, and fun meals tailored specifically to the dietary needs of children under five. 

• Maintain a spotless and hygienic kitchen environment, adhering to the highest food safety standards and nursery protocols. 

• Manage strict allergen controls and cater to various religious or cultural dietary requirements. 

• Oversee daily kitchen operations, including stock control, ordering fresh ingredients, and managing the kitchen budget. 

• Work closely with nursery practitioners to ensure meal times run smoothly and contribute to the nurturing atmosphere of the setting. 

First Call Employment Chef Job Requirements 

To join our South London team, we look for candidates who meet the following criteria: 

• Previous experience as a Chef or Cook within a Nursery, School, or similar educational environment. 

• Relevant culinary qualifications (such as City & Guilds 706-1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent). 

• A valid Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or 3) with a strong understanding of HACCP. 

• An enhanced DBS check is essential for working in childcare (we can assist you with this application). 

• A patient, positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a busy nursery environment.
