School Catering Assistant Key Responsibilities
Assist the school chef in preparing fresh, healthy ingredients for lunchtime meals and snacks while ensuring high standards of presentation.
Serve pupils and staff with a friendly, helpful attitude, managing portion control, and ensuring a smooth flow during the busy lunch period.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment by performing regular cleaning duties, including washing up, sanitizing work surfaces, and clearing dining areas.
Strictly follow school protocols regarding food allergies and intolerances to ensure the safety of all students.
Safely operate kitchen machinery and equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations and school policies.
School Catering Assistant Job Requirements
Previous experience working in a school kitchen, canteen, or high-volume catering environment is highly preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with children, young people, and school faculty.
A basic understanding of food hygiene practices (Level 2 Food Safety certificate is a significant advantage).
An Enhanced DBS check is essential for this role. If you do not have a current certificate on the Update Service, we can assist you with the application.
The ability to work efficiently under pressure as part of a fast-paced kitchen team to meet strict mealtime deadlines.
