How many types of Baristas are there?

There are many types of baristas, depending on the type of coffee, the level of experience, and the job responsibilities. The establishments which we provide with First Call Employment Baristas have different needs and skill levels, and all will be specified.

Some common types of baristas include:

Espresso Baristas:

These baristas specialize in making espresso-based drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, and macchiatos.

Filter Coffee Baristas:

These baristas focus on brewing drip or filter coffee using methods such as pour-over or drip brewing.

Specialty Baristas:

These baristas have a deep understanding of coffee roasting, cupping, and extraction. They create unique and complex coffee-based drinks, experimenting with different brewing techniques, roasting profiles, and flavour combinations.

Latte Art Baristas:

These baristas are skilled in creating intricate and creative designs in the foam atop lattes and cappuccinos.

Managerial Baristas:

These baristas have additional responsibilities aside from producing coffee drinks, such as supervising other baristas, managing inventory, and ensuring the smooth running of the coffee shop.

Corporate Baristas:

These baristas work for large coffee chains or corporations and may have specialized training.

There are many other types of baristas depending on the specialty of the coffee shop, the geographic region, and other requirements which are stipulated by the facilities we recruit for. Be sure to list your experience when registering to be a First Call Employment Agency Barista, and get ready to start picking up shifts in Barista Jobs in the UK.

Do Baristas Require formal training to work in the UK?

In the UK, baristas do not require any specific qualifications, although there are a few training courses available to help improve their skills and knowledge. Some coffee chains may provide their own in-house training, while others may require baristas to attend external courses.

First Call Employment Agency Baristas do require experience in the field, with contactable references, as well as a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate... but please do speak to a booking consultant, either by requesting a call back on our easy to use app, Staffshift or by using our dedicated WhatsApp number: 07401 335 616

Many coffee shops in the UK also require baristas to hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, which is a mandatory requirement for anyone handling food and drinks in the UK. This is usually completed through a short training course and results in a certification that is valid for several years.
